Homemade Greek Pita


Ingredients

2 tsp dry yeast 1 teaspoon sugar 1 1/2 cup warm water 500 g. strong flour 1 teaspoon salt 2 tbs olive oil

Directions

1) Mix the yeast with the sugar and 1/2 cup of water and let 5 'to stand and rise.

2) Mix the flour with the salt. We make an opening in the center and add the puffed yeast, oil and another 1/2 cup of the remaining water.

3) Knead, adding as much of the remaining water as needed until it forms a soft and pliable dough that does not stick to hands.

4) Put the dough in a well oiled bowl and turn to lubricate well from all sides. Cover with membrane and let it rise for about 1 1/2 hours or until doubled in volume.

5) Press the dough to deflate and mold round pies with a diameter of 15 cm. And a thickness of 1 m. Post good brush with oil and let it rise again.

6) With a fork press pies by forklifts in vertical rows.

7) Bake at 230oC for 5'-7 ', rise without cooked well. Remove from the oven and when cool put them in the freezer in plastic bags to use them when you need.

8) After defrosted, and coat it with oil on both sides, sprinkle with salt and oregano and cook in the pan or on the grill for 2-3 minutes.
